Governess confronts the Manor Hallway, Part 2

Dublin Core

Title

Governess confronts the Manor Hallway, Part 2

Description

Film stills (1:11:46) from The Innocents (1961), directed by Jack Clayton. The paranoia and disassociation is continued as the voices of the spirts begin overlapping and repeating rapidly (Image 4), swallowing the space and causing the governess to lose her sense of direction, twisting to look for a means of escape. The instability is emphasized through the unnatural camera angles that shift rapidly around the governess and distort her form, as though she is being preyed upon by all angles.
